Mateo Peligroso considers himself a "rhythm section specialist." He took that concept to its logical conclusion with a custom 7-string guitar/bass from the Hybrid Guitars Co. He is releasing his debut album one song at a time, with the first three tracks having come out in 2025.

The first song, “Hat Kind,’ chronicles the nomadic lifestyle of his younger days and his need as a creative person to push back against a nine-to-five existence. The second track, ”What Happened (to Mateo),” has been reviewed as a "lovely groovy, dynamic sound with great lyrics.” The newest release, “My Woman,” is a disco-funk love song.

Mateo is active in the studio, with the next track scheduled to be released in January, as well as an upcoming collaboration with singer Tay Shawna in 2026. The group began performing together in September with Will Paul on Hammond B3 and Wilmer De Los Rios on drums, and quickly established themselves as regular fixtures on Bay Area stages. Their tight trio rhythm section has been described as "so classic that it sounds new." The first three tracks have more than 45,000 Spotify streams so far.
